Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding

Conflict usually persists for many reasons, the most important of which is ignorance of how to deal with conflicts, either by the conflicting parties or parties trying to de-escalate the conflict and intervene in it. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to build a culture of individuals and societies around the concepts of conflict and peacebuilding, and to learn about approaches to dealing with conflicts, tools for analyzing them, and intervention strategies for peacebuilding, and we believe that the strategy of transforming conflicts (which can be defined as transforming a state of hostility, hatred, and domination into a spirit of cooperation, creativity, and community) is the most useful strategy in dealing with conflicts in societies and is the most appropriate for building sustainable community peace.

Strengthening Local Peace Resources for Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding in Northwest Syria

Our project aimed to empower the local peace resources of Community–Based Organizations (CBOs) and grassroots organizations, particularly youth and women, to become agents of change in their communities. We worked to enhance conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and social cohesion efforts in Salqin and Kafr Takharim, and to amplify the voices of marginalized groups especially youth, women, IDPs, and people with disabilities in identifying and responding to community issues. Youth and women-led initiatives were the lifeblood of community resilience, yet they often faced barriers to accessing the skills and resources needed to thrive. Through the capacity-building phase, we equipped these initiatives with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to navigate challenges, mobilize resources, and drive meaningful change. From conflict resolution and civic engagement to digital advocacy and leadership development, we empowered local peace resources to lead with vision, purpose, and sustainable impact. We facilitated the implementation of community-led initiatives, providing opportunities for local peace resources to actively participate in identifying and responding to pressing community concerns. Dialogue forums served as platforms for stakeholders to express their recommendations, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders such as donors, INGOs, NGOs, CBOs, and volunteer teams. We recognized that the invaluable insights and recommendations generated by local peace resources often remained unheard of beyond their immediate communities. Through dialogue forums, we elevated these voices and ensured that stakeholders were aware of their perspectives, needs, and solutions. By bridging this gap, we enabled local actors to shape and influence policies, programs, and practices that directly impacted their lives and communities.
